Guest Information

  • Maleny Lodge has been operating continuously as a successful Boarding House, Guesthouse, Bed & Breakfast and Accommodation for over 70 years.

Prominent figure Mr A.C.K. Cook (Alfred) built the original house named Rosedale in 1905 for his wife Ada and 11 children, two of whom, our guest rooms are named after, Edina and Freda. With at least five bedrooms, this grand Queenslander was an impressive residence. The Watson family purchased the property in the mid-1940s and with the addition of some extra rooms named it Maleny Lodge.

It was set up as a Gentleman's Boarding House which accommodated teachers, bank managers and other professionals in need of long-term accommodation. By the 1980s, it had transitioned to a bed and breakfast style accommodation. In 2021 / 2022 Maleny Lodge was lovingly restored and refurbished to the highest standard keeping the original heritage charm that naturally flows through the building.

    Heaters / Air Conditioning

We offer a reverse cycle hot and cold air conditioning unit in the king bedroom, in the two queen bedrooms we offer an electric oil heater for the winter months. We also offer a portable electric oil heater to use around the communal areas of the main house.

    Fireplace and Log Burner

When using the fireplace in the main lounge. Place 2 firelighters in the centre of the fireplace and stack 6 to 8 pieces of kindling around the firelighters. Light the firelighters and let them burn for around 5 to 10 minutes. Once fully alight, place 1 or 2 logs on top of the burning kindling. The fire will burn out quickly so you will need to keep on top of making sure the logs are replenished. Do not overload the fire as it will prevent the smoke from going up the chimney. This will cause smoke to filter into the house resulting in the fire alarms going off. Please always make sure the fireguard is in place when the fire is alight.

For the log burner in Freda please follow these simple instructions. Make sure the air vent is on "high". Place 4 firelighters in the centre of the burner and stack 6 to 8 pieces of kindling around the firelighters. Light the firelighters and let them burn for around 5 to 10 minutes. Once fully alight, place 1 or 2 logs on top of the burning kindling. Once the logs are fully alight (normally around 10 minutes) turn the air vent to "low". The log burner is oversized for the size of the room, do not put more than two logs in at a time otherwise, it will overheat the room.

You will find extra logs on the driveway under the guest entrance stairs.

    Fire Pit

The fire is available for you to use. You will find logs and kindling on the driveway under the guest entrance stairs.

    Tea, Coffee & Water

You will find a Nespresso machine and kettle in the four guest rooms along with complimentary organic teas and 100% compostable Maleny coffee pods. A small fridge with fresh Maleny milk and Montville water is also provided. In the main house in the kitchen, we offer a coffee plunger and complimentary Maleny coffee and teas.

    Hand, Body and Hair Wash

We are conscious not to add to the ever-growing problem of plastic waste by providing complimentary Organic Saya products in refillable dispenser bottles. Saya is 100% natural, vegan & cruelty-free, made here on the Sunshine Coast. Please enjoy, and leave for the next guest to enjoy after you. If any of the products are removed, you will be charged for a replacement bottle.

    Washer / Dryer

There is a cupboard next to the kitchen with double doors which houses a washer/dryer and general cleaning products. Please note the double doors can be stiff so you need to push them hard to open them.
